Our plan had been to spend a week in Genova, then a week in Piacenza, but then Silvia wrote and asked if we would stay at her place in Chianti, and so we did. Subtracting a day from Genova and a little more from Piacenza we rode the Rome-bound train back to Pisa then another train Florence and there we were met by Silvia who drove us through the winding roads towards Siena then a little east, to San Casciano in Val di Pesa and her Montrogoli, which closed to guests on 1 September, and which she hopes to sell soon. Silvia's lovely apartment is an add-on to the original building, the original building from the 11th or 12 century, a hotel for pilgrims, the apartment is newish really, from the fifteenth century. All in beautifully renovated condition, the host's apartment very comfortable, the guest accommodation (many luscious rooms) on a grander scale. If you are interested in buying the property, you will find contact information for Silvia here. Speaking Italian, French, English, German, more...
We spent three nights/two days there with the family. We went forth with Silvia on the two days, eating well. I will let photos do the talking. The photos in this blog entry are mostly Helen's with her Canon G16. I could say that that camera is better than my cameras, but I cannot escape from the evidence that Helen takes better photos.

Here a ragged little movie as we leave...
